About me
Hi, I'm Sam
I am a BACP-qualified integrative counsellor in Sevenoaks, Kent — working with adults and young people (15+), in person, online, and out walking in nature.

My Story
Why I became a counsellor
Like many, I’ve navigated my own share of life’s twists and turns. My decision to become a counsellor grew out of a lifelong fascination with human resilience and a genuine desire to help others find what they are looking for in their own lives.
My approach
How I work
I have experience in working with young people (aged 15+) and adults using an "Pluralistic" approach to counselling. This philosophy is grounded in respect for different perspectives and a commitment to helping people thrive. I won't pretend to have all the answers, but I will bring my full presence, expertise, and an open mind to help you navigate your unique path forward. Read more about this in how I help.
I am a mother of three daughters ranging from teens to early 20s, and I have a particular interest in the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 15 to 25. Having worked with this age group and know how important it is for young people to feel heard and understood. I also believe in helping them build self-esteem, confidence, and resilience.
I have a background working in a corporate environment and running my own business, and also draw on my own varied life experiences.
I am interested in society, culture, and community. I believe these can shape how we see ourselves and where we feel we belong. This helps me understand both the differences between people and the experiences we share.
I believe people have a great capacity to heal and grow. My aim is to give you the time, space and support to understand yourself better. I hope to help you make the changes you want, while also learning to be kinder to yourself in the present.

My professional and ethical commitments
BACP Ethical Framework
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. This guides how I work and ensures that I remain accountable to recognised professional standards.
Monthly supervision
I meet with an experienced clinical supervisor every month. Supervision gives me a confidential space to reflect on my work and helps me provide you with thoughtful, safe and effective support.
Confidentiality and privacy
What you share in therapy is treated with care and kept confidential. Before we begin, I will explain how confidentiality works and the limited circumstances in which I may need to share information, such as when there is a serious risk of harm.
Continuing professional development
I regularly undertake further training and professional development. This helps me keep my knowledge and skills up to date and continue developing as a therapist.
Safeguarding
Your safety and wellbeing are important to me. I follow appropriate safeguarding procedures when working with adults and young people.
Feedback and concerns
I welcome open and honest conversations about our work together. If you have any concerns about your therapy, I encourage you to raise them with me. I also follow the BACP’s professional complaints procedures.
