questions & answers

  • No, you can contact me directly. We can have a short free chat to work out if you want to start face-to-face, online, or walk and talk sessions.

  • Sessions last 50 minutes. It is important that we keep a structure and boundaries on our sessions so you can get the most out of them.

  • This varies quite a lot. Some people benefit from 10 sessions, others prefer longer-term work.

We will review progress together regularly to assess if you want to continue. There are no long term commitments and you can decide you don't want to continue at any point.

The important thing if that you have to feel you are getting benefit from our sessions. You can read more about how I can help here.

  • Yes, I offer a free 30 minute phone call where we will talk about what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and give you the opportunity to decide whether working woth me feels right for you.

There are no commitments or obligations for you to start paid counselling sessions with me.

  • Counselling for me, starts and ends with you as an individual, your history, your relationships, and your inner world.

I don't place your feelings and experience within wider social or political narratives, or work from a framework that assumes anything before we've spoken. You are the expert on your own life.

My role is not to affirm or validate everything you bring, it's to help you examine it. That means I'll listen without judgement, but I won't simply agree with every conclusion you've reached about yourself or your situation.

Genuine therapeutic progress often comes from being willing to question, not just to feel heard.

Read more about my approach here.

  • I will outline the boundaries, explain what you can expect from me, and complete any necessary legal and safegaurding work, but from that point on we can start the conversation from wherever you want to begin.

  • Of course! It is vitally important that confidentiality is maintained throughout our sessions. The only exception to this would be where there is serious risk of harm to self or others.

You can read more about my Privacy Policy.

  • Yes. If travelling to my therapy room in Sevenoaks for a in-person, face-to-face session is difficult for you, then I do offer online sessions via Teams or FaceTime.

  • Yes. I work with young people 15+. I will always discuss with their parent or guardian how we will work together before any sessions begin, including how consent is handled and what communication, if any, will take place.

The young person’s trust and sense of safety in the sessions is my top priority.

  • I offer a Walk and Talk session with adults over 25 in a couple of pre-determined walking routes around Sevenoaks & Eynsford. The intention is to combine the tranquility of nature with best counselling practices to help you feel more calm and relaxed and able to talk more openly about what is impacting you.
